The Ritchey WCS Apex 38 wheelset for clinchers is the perfect all-rounder for the highest demands. The high-quality carbon wheelset with medium-high rim profile is fast in the wind and light enough for the mountains. The WCS Apex 38 wheelset relies on a monocoque carbon rim for rim brake use made by Reynolds experts. The 38 mm high carbon rim for folding and clincher tyres is deliberately kept relatively wide to provide an optimal fit for other road tyres and prepared for tubeless applications. Heat-resistant plastics ensure optimised stability of the brake flanks. In the centre of the WCS Apex 38 wheels sit Ritchey's elaborately optimised and very lightweight Phantom Flange hubs (70g front / 207g rear). The Phantom Flange shifts the suspension of the spokes tightly into the narrow hub body: combining the stable design of straight pull spokes with the use of more reliable and widespread cranked spokes. Premium quality bearings and a tool-free dismountable freewheel body with 6 pawls and 12-point locking complete the centre of the Apex carbon wheels. With quick releases, 100 /130 mm installation width and Shimano/Sram freewheel body for 11-speed racing cassettes, the Apex 38 carbon wheelset is ready to race.
